Remove Hidden Metadata Before Sharing Files

Updated June 15, 2026

What's hidden in your files?

Phone photos usually embed EXIF data: camera model, date and time, and often exact GPS coordinates. PDFs carry the author name, the software that created them, and edit timestamps.

Sharing a photo as-is can reveal where you live or work. Scrubbing metadata before publishing is a basic privacy hygiene step.

Check before you share

Use the Image Metadata tool in View mode to get a report of everything embedded in a JPG or PNG. The PDF Metadata tool lists title, author, creator and dates.

Then switch to Remove mode: the tool re-encodes the file without any metadata blocks and gives you a clean copy to download.
